GEOTFCHNICA/DATA
AVAILABLE TO BIDDERS
3
INVESTIGATION:
A. An investigation of subsurface soil conditions at the site was made by HBC Engineering, Inc.,
for the City of Coppell.
REPORTS:
A. Logs of test borings for the areas applicable to this project are bound herein for information
only,
B The complete text of the subsurface investigation report may be examined by qualified
Bidders in the office of the Architect/Engineer.
INTERPRETATION:
A. Bidders are expected to examine the site and the subsurface investigation reports and then
decide for themselves the character of the materials to be encountered.
B. The Owner and Architect/Engineer disclaim any responsibility for the accuracy, true location
and extent of the soils investigation that has been prepared by others. They further disclaim
responsibility for interpretation of that data by Bidders, as in projecting soil-bearin9 values,
rock profiles, soil stability and the presence, level and extent of underground water,

Well graded

I laving inclined planes of weakness that are slick and glossy in appearance.
Containing shrinkage cracks, frequently filled with fine sand or silt; usually more or less
vertical
Composed of thin layers of varying color and texture,
Composed of alternate layers of different soil types.
Containing appreciable quantities of calcium carbonate.
Having wide range in grain sizes and substantial amounts of all intermediate particle sizes.
Predominantly of one grain size, or having a range of sizes with sotne intermediate size
missing.
NOTE: Slickensided and fissured clays may have lower unconfined compressive strengths because of planes of weakness
or cracks in the soil. The cons s ency rating of such soils are based on penetrometer readings,
DEGREE OF WEATHERING:
Unweathered
Slightly weathered
Weathered
Severely' weathered
Rock in its natural state before being exposed to atmospheric agents.
Noted predominantly by color change with no disintegrated zones.
Complete color chaage with zones of slightly decomposed rock.
Complete color change with consistency, lexture, and general appearance approaching
soil.
SUBSURFACE CONDITIONS:
Soil and rock descriptions on the boring logs are a compilation of field data as well as from laboratory testing of samples
The stratification lines represent the approximate boundary between materials and the transition can be gradual.
Water level obscrvations have been made in the borings at the times indicated. It must be noted that fluctuations in the
groundwater level may occur due to variations in rainfall, hydraulic conductivity of soil strata, construction actiwty, and
other factors.
