I spoke with Steve Bosak to ascertain what is necessary to allow
the City to use a proposed 6 acre dedication of land as a match
in their funding programs.
The primary item mentioned was that the City not accept ownership,
title or negotiate a value until a grant application had been
approved. In order for the City to utilize this land as a match
for monies it must remain in the owner's hands.
I mentioned that there was some community and state historical
significance attached to the property. Steve indicated that their
(the State's) funding programs are for outdoor recreation not
restoration, rehabilitation or preservation of historical sites.
I assured Steve our interests were for the outdoor recreation
potential of the site in developing it. A trail for
running/walking, picnic facilities and other outdoor recreation
pursuits were our primary objectives for the site.
Steve said that as soon as this can be planned to make application
as the maximum funding amount was dropping another $100,000.00.
