WHEREA~,
on December 31, 1991, the Baptist Foundation of Texas donated, for
inclusion within the Dallas County Park & Open Space system, 15.537
acres of property in Coppell known as ~rapevine Springs; and
this acreage, which once served as the temporary site of the
capital of the Republic of Texas, features an elaborate and
extensive system of trails, walls, channels, and flumes that was
installed by the Works Progress Administration in 1936; and
such characteristics make the site truly unique and without peer in
Dallas County; and
because of the Baptist Foundation's generosity, Dallas County will
now not only be able to acquire a unique and historic open space
site that it probably would not have otherwise been able to
acquire, but it will also be able to preserve the site for future
generations to enjoy;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Dallas County Commissioners Court
extends its sincere appreciation to the Baptist Foundation of Texas for its
generosity in donating Grapevine S~rin~s_to Dallas County'S Park & Open Space

past and future.
