Shady Grove Irving, Texas 75060 Mr. Rick O'Dell City of Coppell Engineering Dept 255 Parkway Boulevard Coppell, Texas 75019 Phone: 972-304-7090 Fax (8972) 421-0934 March 3, 2006 Ref: Denton Tap Road 16" Water Line, Airline Drive to Bethel Road Sub: Cost Saving for Bore at Dart Rail Road J. T. Dersner proposes to change the bore section at the Dart Rail Crossing. This change in elevation will place the 16" Water Line approximately 8 feet below the ground surface, not the 22 feet as designed. This will speed construction and provide a line that can more easily be maintained in the future by city forces. The existing lines have been exposed and verified, making this alignment possible. If this revised bore section is permitted J. T. Dersner and Skaggs are prepared to reduce the price of that bore. The saving for Skaggs will be in the form of reduced excavation and shoring, and for Dersner it will be reduced traffic control, material handling, compaction, and shoring at the opposite connection point. Skaggs reduce their price by $35.00 per foot and Dersner will reduce our price by and equal amount, ($35.00) per foot. This will give a reduction of $70.00 per linear foot for the 113 foot bore. The total proposed saving for the City of Coppell will be $7,910.00 for this bore. It can be as a lump sum deductive change order to as a change order of revised bore section 113 If~ $275.00 for a total of $31,075.00 We hope this is acceptable to the City, for we feel it will be a benefit to all parties involved. Thank you for your consideration in this matter and we will await your reply. If you should need any further information, feel free to call our office. Project Manager
