Re:
DeForest Road Service Center Letter of Map Revision
LOMR 97-06-503P.
Dear Ms. Bittner:
Our meeting with Mr. Ken Griffin, City Engin~r for the City ofCoppell, juat ended. Mr. Griffin generally
concurs with the comments I faxed you earlier today.
Mr. Griffin's emphasis is on point 3 of the comment~ "... trying to maintain the floodway widths generated by the
HEC-2 model results m an excessive shift of the floodway and lO0-year floodplain on the south bank of Denton
Creek upstream of McArthur Blvd. Also, the floodw~ widths were made more consistent along Old Denton
Creek but their delineation still does not quite match the creek location as shown on the topographic maid'. Mr.
Griffin would like the 100-yr floodplain delineation to match more closely the one shown on our CLOMR exhibit
and the Old Denton Creek alignment shown on the topographic map. He is especially concerned with the 100-yr
floodplain delineation southeast of the DeFore,~t Road Service Center maintenance building which does not match
the ditch as shown on the topographic map. Please refer to the attached sketches (exhibit I and exhibit 2) which
point to those areas where the floodplain is a concern. The delineation is offby as much as 120 feet upstream of
McArthur Blvd. and 90 feet southeast of the l~Forest Road Servi~ Center maintenanc~ building.
Also discussed is point 4 of the comments '5~t cross-section 225 + 70, the reduction of the lO0-yectr topwidth from
1500 feet to $30 feet is an intprovement, although we had delineated it less than 325feet wide based on contours
shown on the topographic map". If possible, could the flood width b~ reduced further to better conform to the
contours shown on the topographic map?
Let me know ifI can b, of additional help.
Yours very truly,
