As you may know, the Federal Emerget~ ~I Agency. (FEMA) has implememed a procedure to
recover co~s ~ssociated wilh reviewing and processing requesls for conditiOnal modifieafiom ~o published
flood informiion and maps. The inifi~ fee of $640 that you have submi~ed is ~e minimum charge associated
with our review of a request of ~is type. You will be notifi~ of ~e estimated co~s if we anticipate ~hat, due
to ~e extent of the review required, the ~otal cos~ will exceed $3,~00. In that situation, our review would
be suspended pending our receipt of written authorization fromyou to proceed.
We have completed an inventory of the ~ms ~mt you submim~d. We have received all of u~e data and the

For a flood-conUol project to be exempt from fees and processing cos~, it must be sponsored by a Federal,
State, or local governme~, intemted for public benefit, and primarily imemted for flood4oss reduction ~o
insurable suuctures in identified flood hazard areas that were in existence prior ~o commencemen~ of
construction of the flood-comrol project.
