This letter is written in response to your request to tap into a City of Coppell 12" waterline to provide
irrigation to a portion of S.H. 121 which lies within the City of Lewisville There is a process to go through
pnor to tying into a waterline in one city to provide service to another city First, both cities must determine
that rt is m the best interest of each city, both practically and financially, to allow one city to provide service
to another city
If it is in the best interest of both cities, then an mterlocal agreement must be drafted that is then taken to the
respectwe city councils for approval The approval of the mterlocal would set any gu~dehnes whereby one
city can supply water to another
The City of Coppell has an mterlocal with the City of Grapevine for them to provide water for a portion of
Coppell that lies on the northwest side of S.H. 121 Recently, the City of Coppell approached Lewisville
about the possibility of a parcel of property m Coppell, on the north side of S.H 121 and east of Denton Tap
Rd., receiving water service from the City of Lewisville. At that time, the City of Lewisville stated that rt
was not in their best interest to provide water outside of their city hmrts Because the City of Lew~sv~lle
would not allow the developer to tie into a City of Lewisville waterhne, which was adjacent to his property,
the developer was required to install approximately 2,000 linear feet of 8" water line to provide service to
his property
If the City of Lewisville is willing to allow the City of Coppell to provide water service to a portion of S.H
121 m Lewisville, we would need written verification from the City of Lewisville pnor to formulating an
mterlocal agreement with the City of Lewisville
We cannot authorize you to tie into the City of Coppell's waterhne to provide water to property within the
Vary of Le~~~is~nlle without mterlocal agreements being apps caved by both cites
If you have any additional questions please feel free to contact me at your convenience
Sincerely,
~~ if~~~
