INTRODUCTION
Curtis Loftis (TxDOT-Fort Worth) opened the meeting by welcoming the committee members and
then asked everyone to introduce themselves The purpose of the meeting was to update the committee
where the project is at now and to view and discuss the proposed project layout. Phil Ullman later
discussed in detail the current ramping and freeway layout.
RECOMMENDED PLAN
Phil went through and summarized the recommended ramp locations throughout the project. The
ramping scheme presented recommended a limited number of ramps to reduce driver confusion. These
recommendations were based on the results of traffic analysis performed using a behavioral traffic
modeling software (VISSIM) and past Technical Advisory Committee inputs. Overall, the plan was
accepted for presentation to the Public for the planned February 23, 2006 Public meeting.
HDR was asked to further analyze three separate areas in the study project: the FM 1709 alignment
and intersection, the Sandy Lake ramp and intersection, and possible traffic weaving concerns at D/FW
airport.
• The FM 1709 alignment and intersection require further evaluation. This includes further
analysis of the FM 1709 intersection, Bank St, and Gateway Dr to better handle the traffic
movements
• Changes to the Sandy Lake alignment were requested to minimize additional R.O W impacts
In addition, further review of the Sandy Lake exit location and a feasibility report on a direct
connector from IH 635 to Sandy Lake were requested.
• D/FW Airport had concerns of possible traffic weaving problems due to the close proximity of
the airport entrance ramp and the short distance to the toll booths. This will require further
evaluation.
SCHEDULE
Phil concluded the presentation with a brief list of upcoming milestones, including a public meeting on
February 23, 2006 and public hearing late 2006, schematic developments, agency review of
schematics, and a FONSI scheduled for early 2007 A traffic behavioral analysis is also being
performed on the project with results to be presented at an upcoming Technical Advisory Meeting.
The Technical meeting was then adjourned officially
