REF: Consider awarding Bid/Contract # Q- 0406 -01 to Ed A. Wilson, Inc. for the
construction of the MacArthur Blvd. / Cribbs Dr. Drainage Project, in an
amount of $47,820, as provided for in Drainage Utility District funds.
On May 4, 2006 the City of Coppell received and opened four bids for the construction of the
MacArthur Blvd. / Cribbs Dr Drainage Project. This project provides for the installation of
approximately 168 linear feet of slotted drain and one inlet intended to alleviate nuisance storm
water that ponds at the named intersection. Refer to the attached exhibit for the limits of
construction.
The bids on this project ranged from a low bid of $47,820 00 to a high bid of $78,700 00. Ed A.
Wilson, Inc submitted the low bid on the project. This contractor has bid on various projects in
the City of Coppell, but they have never submitted the lowest successful bid. They were,
however, able to supply references from several municipalities in the Metroplex for work of
magnitude comparable to this project. Correspondence with those references was favorable and
indicated this contractor is highly capable of completing the project on time and within budget.
The Engineering department completed the design for this project in house and our estimate was
$42,911 Staff recommends award of the contract for the MacArthur Blvd. / Cribbs Dr Drainage
Project to Ed A. Wilson, Inc , in the amount of $47,820 00, with an estimated completion time of
45 calendar days.
