Mr Tovson,
Sorry for the mix up, I debated for a minute before I sent the previous email
Page 1
Again, I appreciate your concern, but I have no way to legally restrict their traffic, as their destination is on
Freeport Parkway I imagine the police could cite them for failure to stay in their lane, but that would be an
issue for them to address.
The traffic will switch to the other side of the median beginning Monday June 5, 2006 The project will be
completed by mid summer

Mr Martin,
(It is Mr Robin actually) This is a crude visual representation of what
happened this morning
Up to the north is the Minyard's Distro Center and to the south is 635
(it's the bend that has a 15 mph posted speed limit) Minyard's is right
next to Bethel Road. Is it not possible to just route traffic coming out
of Minyard's down Bethel to Royal, where there are two lanes for each
way? (Over by the USPS Distribution Center) It seems too hazardous for
oncoming traffic to allow these vehicles down Freeport. I am just
concerned for other driver's safety
Thank you,
Robin

Ms. Tovson,
Thank you for bringing your concerns about traffic safety to the city's attention As you are aware this
project has been a difficult one for the city and for the contractor performing the work.
The specifications for this project allowed the contractor to restrict the traffic on this street to one lane in
each direction for the duration of the project. The contractor chose to direct both lanes to one side of the
median while working on both lanes on the other side Shortly this situation will be reversed with the
southbound lanes closed, and both directions of travel switched to the northbound side of the median
The City of Coppell will continue to monitor the traffic through this work zone and ensure that the
contractor keeps the work area as safe as possible for their work crews as well as the public traveling
through the area. As with any construction area, we encourage traffic to seek an alternate route, however
we have no means to force these adjacent businesses to re -route their traffic
I expect this project to be complete by mid summer If you have any other questions or concerns, please
feel free to contact me directly

Mr Sieb,
This morning my brother Kevin and I were forced onto the median upon
returning down Freeport Parkway after passing Coppell Middle School
West. There is a curve in the road, and being one way makes it
especially bad for commercial trucks leaving the Minyard's distribution
plant nearby When a commercial truck turns, even slightly, it has to
swing its cargo to make said turn As I waited for him to turn, I
realized he was not going to stop and was going to severely impact the
car I was forced to put two tired on the cement median and get out of
his way; there were other cars behind me but they were waiting back. I
was wedged in between the curb and the fork created by the truck.
With that said, I am emailing you to take a closer look at that road.
Perhaps forcing trucks to take a left out of the distribution plant and
use Royal to get on 635 Their current means of using a one way road and
endangering potential vehicles is a rather considerable safety hazard
