Maler Consulting Engineers, Inc. (NDMCE) have made an effort to suggest a program and cost estimate for the culvert that follows UnI- versity Park's alternative plan (see attached). Our preliminary hydrologic review Indicates the need for a flve-barrel' 1 0' x 10' box culvert. this would require approximately 350.2 cubic yards of concrete at an estimated cost of $350.00 per cubic yard, resulting In a total cost of $122,570.00. this would Include wing walls and excavation. We have also estimated that the attached plan requires the acquisition of 6,400 square feet of land for right-of-way from Mrs. McDowell and would allow for 14,000 square feet to be returned to her from the existing public roadway. If the roadway were returned to Mrs. McDowell, she would regain the use of an estimated additional 6,000 square feet, currently on the east side of Bethel Road, presently unusable due to Its narrow width (15 feet). this alignment also requires approximately 2,400 square feet In addition to the normal linear right-of- way dedication from the Wilson Tract. As always, the Improvement of . substandard roadway Is not without Its inconveniences. However, It seems clear that the completion of this necessary task can be accomplished If the primary particIpants remain willing. " Thank you for your cooperation In this matter.
