Subject: Coppell Sandy Lake Wastewater Lift Station — Unit Heaters
TCB Project No. 52803718
Dear Mr. O'Dell,
VIA FAX 972- 304 -3570
It has come to our attention that the unit heaters TCB specified for the Sandy Lake Lift Station are
240 volt (3 phase) units. These heaters have been delivered to the contractor. The electrical
drawings show the power for these heaters coming from a 450 volt (3 phase) panel- Obviously the
heaters cannot be supplied from this panel.
We have reviewed the available power at the Sandy Lake Lift Station and there is no 240 volt
(3 phase) power available to serve these heaters. We have talked to the heater supplier and they are
unable to exchange the 240 volt units for the 480 volt units or offer any sort of a refund because the
240 volt units were custom units and that design has been phased out and replaced with a new
design,. However, the supplier has contacted the heater manufacturer and the 240 volt heaters can be
reconfigured to 480 volt units. This will require shipping the heaters to the factory and some labor for
a total cost of approximately $8,000 for the five heaters. The turnaround time for this would be
approximately one month We also looked at the possibility of purchasing new heaters; however, the
cost for new heaters would be about $15,000 to $15,000 and the lead time on the new heaters is also
approximately one month.
Please feel free to contact me at 972- 735 -3056 if you have any questions or need any additional
information. Once you have had an opportunity to review this information, we can discuss how we
need to proceed on this matter.
Sincerely,
Erika K. Codger, P,E.
