City En neer City Coppell P Office Box 478 ,5019 Re: Wagon Wheel Ranch Elevated Storage Tank Dear Mr. Griffin: We have reviewed the concrete cylinder pipe shop drawings for the Wagon Wheel Ranch Elevated Storage Tank project and the Sandy Lake Road Water Line project to determine if any pieces delivered to the Sandy Lake Road Water Line project could be used on the Wagon Wheel Elevated Storage Tank project. This pipe substitution was recently proposed by Landmark Structures because of their inability to receive concrete cylinder pipe until the end of April. The contractor plans to connect the tank to the 12" water line in Northpoint Drive and have water in the tank by the beginning of May. Installation of the concrete cylinder pipe is also necessary to continue the site work. Our review of the shop drawings from both projects indicates that a number of pieces can be used from the Sandy Lake Road Water Line project with the exception of an adapter piece (A1) and tee (T9), which are unavailable from the Sandy Lake Road project. A summary of the pieces required and their proposed substitutions is shown below. Griffin, P.I~ ~ City Engineer City of Coppell 04/19/99 Page No. 2 If pieces A1 and T9 are available from the pipe manufacturer and delivered to the tank site within the next week, it is our opinion that it would be feasible to substitute the pieces from the Sandy Lake Road Water Line project to the tank project as noted above. Then, at the end of April, the pieces fabricated for the tank project would be delivered to the Sandy Lake project. It is our understanding after conversation with Fox Contractors, that this substitution would not affect their schedule with the Sandy Lake project, as long as the substituted pipe is delivered by the end of April. It is also our understanding that the pipe substitution will be provided on a no cost/no credit basis. If Landmark Structures decides to proceed with the pipe substitution, we recommend they initiate communication and handle all coordination efforts with their pipe supplier and Fox Contractors to be certain it can be accomplished efficiently and not affect the schedule of either project. We are enclosing the concrete cylinder pipe submittals showing the affected pipe pieces and are available to discuss this project further at your convenience. Sincerely yours, Gary C.
