Re: West Sandy Lake Road -Median Keyway Construction
Attached please find a letter from John Gay requesting permission to install a "joint lug"
Instead of constructing a keyway JOint on the median curbs adjacent to proposed stamped
concrete medIan pavement. Apparently It IS difficult for this keyway JOint to be slip formed
without the curb sloughing off Standard Detail 2170 iHustrates the "joint lug" connection that
Tiseo is proposing. After looking at the detail and discussing the situation with John Gay,
my recommendation would be to deviate from the key..vay detail in order to maintain the
stability of the slip formed curb
The other item mentioned in the letter from John Gay IS In regard to the sloped median
noses Tiseo IS requesting clarification on the material for those noses I have discussed
with John that the noses shall be constructed of concrete paving and not stamped concrete
Please let me know how the City of Coppell would like to proceed With the connection
between the stamped concrete and the curb.

the back of curb for the enhanced concrete Tieso Pavmg will not be ahle to slip a

would lIke to lllstall a JOllt lug as per the City Standard 2170 At no addItional
charge to the City ofCoppeU
