Re Pavement Design Regional Distribution Center Dallas, Texas JUL 'S 1 1995 As discussed last week, we have reviewed the pavement recommendations for the subject project. We recommend that the design of the pavement for the subject project be modified to include special treatment of the soil surface to allow for elimination of the 6 -in. lime treated subgrade. We recommend that the subgrade in parking and drive areas be scarified to a depth of at least 6 inches, water added as needed, and this layer compacted to a dry density of 95 to 98 percent of the maximum dry density determined by ASTM D 698 at a moisture content between Optimum Moisture Content and four percentage points above Optimum Moisture Content determined by the same test. No leveling sand should be used under the pavement, and the soil surface should be moist when concrete is placed. All joints must be sealed and the sealant maintained. We trust this provides the information you need at this time. Please call us if you have any questions or require additional information.
