DR8601-CS 861110MEMORANDUM November 10, 1986 TO: Coppell M.U.D., City of Coppell, General Homes and Univest Bids for Parkwood Drainage Ditch FR: Paul W. Phy Bids were received by General Homes for the referenced work based on approved plans and specifications, including a re- quirement of $3 million liability coverage, from two (2) bidders (bids were requested from several who did not bid): GROSS BID DEDUCTS* ADJUSTED BID Less: Hydromulching TOTAL NET BID (excludes Hydro) J & N $ 66,687.25 6,100.00 60,587.25 1,897.50' 58,689.75 JESKE__ $65,079.20 330.00 64,749.20 3,465.00 61,284.20 DIFFERENCE CITY SHARE** 16,569.93 18,786.05 2,216.12 OTHERS SHARE 14,672.44~ 15,321.05 648.61 Notes: * agreed reduction if insurance reduced to $2 million ** City pays for hydromulching without contribution from others Based on this possible change as a result of reducing the insur- ance (which was too high to begin with), the parties are left with the following alternatives: 1. Award work to Jeske as lowest original bidder 2. Award work to J & N as lowest revised bidder 3. Reject both bids and request bids from all original contractors who took out plans (including Jeske and J & N) with insurance reduced to $1,000,000. Considering the relatively small amount involved and the consid- erable delays that have already occurred, it seems prudent to award the work to J & N or to Jeske, but to determine quickly which way to go in any event. REGARDLESS of other considerations, General Homes cannot serve as the contracting entity unless the $3 million liability requirement is met. Wiseco has agreed to act in this capacity and the District will be requested to do so if Wiseco cannot or if it is preferred for the District to do it.
