Dear Keith,
Jackson-Shaw / Vista Point II Limited Partnership, owner of the property identified above, has
reviewed the issue of fly ash in the concrete mix designs for our Vista Point project. We
understand the City of Coppell prohibits the use of fly ash in pavements and other civil structures
such as cast-in-place storm drain curb inlets, area drains, manholes, etc. However, it is also our
understanding the use of fly ash in building structures is at the discretion of the Owner. We have
discussed this matter with our structural engineering consultant, McHale Engineering. Both
McHale and Jackson-Shaw approve the use of fly ash in building structures as follows:
. Structural foundation elements such as piers, spread footings, and grade beams, in
accordance with ACI and NCTCOG specifications outlined in the GFF Project
Manual.
We will not utilize fly ash in building slab or tiltwall panel mix designs. Thank you.
