TXU Electric Poles
Richard Brewster responded to your request to look at moving the two oncrete poles at the
intersection of Oak Bend and Sandy Lake.
1. Richard is not sure whether the transmission towers belong to TXU or Brazos Electric -
either way the towers have Brazos transmission lines on them. Brazos does not allow
distribution lines to be installed on the same towers with transmission lines. They do not
want their maintenance crews to have to deal with the distribution lines. Even if the towers
belong to TXU - they would have an agreement with Brazos not to allow any distribution
lines.
2. The towers are located in an existing 30-foot easement and there is not enough space in the
easement for the installation of distribution lines. TXU will have to obtain a 15-foot
easement behind the existing easement in order to relocate the poles to the north of Sandy
Lake Road. The landowner is Callejo.
3. The TXU lines can go underground until the church property. Richard will look at this
option to see whether it can be accomplished. The city will be responsible for the additional
costs. I requested him to provide us with a rough estimate of what it would cost if it can be
done.
