For your info, the City of Irving has installed video camera detection
at the I. H. 635 at Belt Line Road interchange so that we will not have
to worry about damaged loop detectors and so we can move the detection
zone as needed as construction progresses.

Kim,
400 feet south of the exit ramp intersection with Belt Line Road puts
the closure on the bridge over I1-1635.
Be sure he uses an arrow board so that northbound traffic on Belt Line
approach the interchange can see the lane closure far ahead. What we
don't want is through traffic in the outside lane suddenly realizing
that their lane ends and the middle lane is dense with vehicles so we
have a bottleneck on the bridge queuing back so that motorists wishing
to turn right to proceed eastbound on IH 635 cannot get to the
intersection without being part of a long queue because through
vehicles
cannot merge left.
During the time limits this closure will be in effect, 9:OOam to
3:30pm,
I don't think you'll have a major problem with traffic as long as the
advance "Lane Closed, Thru Traffic Merge Left" signs and the arrow
board

Jim,
The Contractor notified us they did not have a lane closure yesterday
as
previously planned, but will have one set up today after lunch. The
limits will be approx. 400 feet south of the intersection of the WB IH
635 Exit Ramp at Belt Line. There will be a 275 foot taper and 100
foot
work zone area on Belt Line.

I shall notify those concerned. In the meantime, please clarify the
extend of the lane closure. Will the outside northbound lane of Belt
Line Road be close south of the interchange (i.e. south of the
eastbound
frontage road intersection with Belt Line Road), between the two
frontage roads (i.e. on the bridge over 1. H. 635) or where the
westbound
frontage road intersections with Belt Line Road (i.e. right at the NE
corner of the interchange)?

Jim,
TxDOT will be closing the right lane of NB Belt Line Road at IH 635
Tuesday through Wednesday, August 15 -16, 2006 from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM
to
remove a curb inlet and storm sewer pipe. This is in preparation of
constructing a detour ramp parallel and to the inside of the WB IH 635
Exit Ramp to Belt Line.
Please inform the appropriate Emergency personnel, etc., and let me
know
if you need any additional information.
