ST9401-CS 980625 (3)REBCON, INC. June 25, 1998 Mr. Ulys Lane Wier & Associates 4300 Beltway Place, Suite 130 Arlington, Texas 76018 -1097 Re: Denton Tap Road Cottonwood Creek to S.H. 121 Bypass Dear Mr. Lane: Rebcon would like to propose value engineering options to the City of Coppell for the bridge on the referenced project. We propose to use prestressed concrete panels in the bridge deck, metal interior diaframs, and thickened slab end diaframs for a savings of $13,000.00 to the City. I have enclosed Texas Department of Transportation standard detail sheets for each of the proposed options for your information. All of these options are commonly used in bridge construction in the Metroplex and will not detract from the structural integrity of the bridge. Even though the cubic yards of concrete will decrease, the $13,000.00 savings is based on still being paid for the contract quantity of 524.5 cubic yards of slab concrete. If these options meet with your and the City's approval, we will submit shop drawings prior to fabrication of the interior diaframs and the concrete panels. I cannot submit concrete beam shop drawings until I have your decision, because these options affect the fabrication of the beams. Thank you for your consideration of these options. Sincerely, Robert C. Bibby enclosures 1 868 W. NORTHWEST HWY. DALLAS, TEXAS 75220 972/444 -8230
