Dear Ken:
The attached bid tabulation summarizes the results of the bids received
for the proposed 16" water main in Denton Tap Road from Parkway Boulevard to
proposed SH 121 bypass (City Project ST 94-01-WA). There was a good
response by contractors and the range of bids was relatively close.
J. C. Evans Construction Company is the low bidder based on the full
project bid and the option of deleting the 12" W.L. crossing at the 121 bypass
(deleting items 4 & 30). We obtained the attached contractor's qualification
statement and their list of client references from J.C. Evans Construction
Company. The contractor is a large utility contractor with corporate
headquarters in Austin, Texas. The contractor entered the Dallas-Fort Worth
area market several years ago. They have a local office in Irving and run ten
pipe laying crews locally.
We called several references, all of which provided positive comments
regarding the contractor's performance. Based on the information we received
and our research, we recommend the project be awarded to the low bidder, J. C.
Evans Construction Company.
