Halff Associates arrived on site at approximately 10:00 am on December 16 for
construction observation. The lid and the rim of the raised manhole near the monument
sign have been installed, but the area has not been backfilled and the
landscaping/irrigation has not yet been repaired. The eastern circle area and the median
opening at the western drive of Gateway Office Center were being paved. The steel was
tied together and spaced at 24 inches on center. Chairs were used to raise the steel off the
ground. Cylinders had been made for testing and Reed Engineering was on site. Ogie,
the superintendent for McMahon Contracting, said that they were going to finish pouring
the concrete on Saturday morning, December 18. I told Jesus, the forman for McMahon
Contracting, to saw and seal the joints under the future brick pavers. The storm manhole
at STA 9 +09 needs to be raised to grade and cleaned out; it is full of dirt. Two of the four
curb inlet tops were being constructed. Extra precautions need to be made at all the inlet
locations to ensure that silt is not entering the storm sewer system. According to Jesus,
the entire project should be completed by Wednesday, December 22, 1999.
