DR8902-CS 890630 (2)June 30, 1989 TO: Alan D. Ratliff, City Manager FROM: Russell R. Doyl~~., City Engineer RE: PELICAN/BETHELVSCHOOL FOLLOW-UP - PROJECTS AWAITING FUNDING Attached is a summary list and separate detail lists of public improvement needs for the City of Coppell. These lists were considered by the City Council when they approved the funding on December 13, 1988, for the Bethel School/Pelican drainage study and improvements, and the asphalt overlays on Bethel Road and Thweatt Road. The first three items on the Summary Sheet are the totals of the respective category of needed improvements (i.e. drainage problems, subgrade failures and asphalt overlays). The last two items are drainage problems that have come to our attention since December 13, 1988. That is Hill Drive and North Oak Trail. They are both currently estimated to cost about $50,000 each, for construction only. Engineering costs'would be added to that cost. Additionally, we have other drainage problem areas, such as Lock Lane, Sandy Lake Road/Leslie, and city wide creek bank erosions that still need to be addressed. We will be further compiling these other problem areas, investigating them, and preparing a strategy to conduct necessary engineering studies, cost estimates, possible funding alternatives and then execution of the final engineering and construction of the priority projects that receive funding. As can be seen, the total estimated construction costs of these known projects needing to be done is estimated at $2,303,500.00. When grouped with the other public improvements in the Five Year Capital Improvement Plan, and with others that might not yet be identified, we have a good challenge ahead of us. Please let me know if you have any questions.
