DR8902-CS 881104November 4, 1988 TO: Russell Doyle, City Engineer FROM: Dale Jackson, Building Officiat~ RE: Pelican and Bethel School Road Drainage You have requested information concerning the drainage of lots along Bethel School and Pelican. I met with Kevin Peiffer last year to discuss the lot drainage in that area. The drainage plans indicate a break point approximately 30 feet from the front property line. All areas between the break point and the street are shown to drain toward the street. Areas between the break point and the creek are shown to drain toward the creek. As was explained to me by Kevin, the break point was listed on the plat because of the capacity limits of the storm sewer along Bethel School and Pelican. The storm sewer was designed to handle the water run off between the break line and the street only. If the lots are graded in such a way as to drain more than the front 30 feet of the lot, the storm sewer will not be able to handle the additional flow of water. However, if less water flows onto Bethel School and Pelican, there will be no negative affect on the storm sewer. In essence, it is my understanding that the break point indicates the maximum amount of land that can be graded toward the street. If less land is graded toward the street, more water will drain into the creek. Conversely, less water will drain into the Bethel School and Pelican storm sewers causing no negative affect to the subdivision. If this is incorrect, please let me know. xc: Alan D.
