DR8802-CS 900619 C OPPELT. PUBLIC WORKS MEMORANDUM DATE: June 19, 1990 TO: Steve Goram, Director of Public Works FROM: Per Birdsall, Street Supervisor~ RE: Kaye Street - Repaying of Street Kaye Street, which was installed many years back, has not received any maintenance outside of pothole patching since its construction. Its current condition reflects the age of the road which has been complicated by numerous water leaks on the old water line which is located in the east bound lane. Only with the dead end status of the street and low volume of traffic, has the pavement lasted this long. A new water line was installed in the street a few years ago in the westbound lane which eliminated the frequent water leaks and repaved a four (4) foot strip along the north side. This helped tremendously. Kaye Street was one of the roads identified in the 90-91 proposed budget at a cost of $32,000 which would mill off the old surface and place a new surface at the original grade so as to not diminish the drainage capacity of the curb and gutter drainage (no storm sewer). Summer is normally the best months to perform this type of work but upon approval of funding (if general funds are used) work could begin in October. If funds are available now, work could begin in as little as two (2) months. An agenda item could be put together for the July 10, 1990 agenda if funding can be expected. PHB/kc KAYEST.PHB
