Mr. Garreth Campbell
Chief Construction Inspector
City of Coppell
255 Parkway Boulevard
Coppell, TX 75019
Dear Garreth:
I received a phone call from Rey Gonzales a few days ago and have addressed the following
issues:
(1) The delay on Samuel and Village may be due to a number of factors. We need
to meet at the signal to check the following:
- minimum timings on MacArthur
- maximum timings on MacArthur
- make sure side street detectors are not on delay
- use "soft" recall
(2) The pedestrian pushbutton locations at the Coppell and Bethel intersection were
not installed according to plans. We have reviewed the intersection and
discussed the matter with several Tx DOT representatives. Although the
preference is to normally locate the pedestrian pushbuttons on the other side of
the intersection (as called for in the design), the pedestrian movement is clearly
on the east side of the intersection. Also we are using a green ball (permissive)
instead of a green arrow (protected) for the left turns; therefore, the pedestrian
pushbutton locations as installed are acceptable for this location. The pedestrian
pushbuttons located on the southeast side (the pole on the island) should be
lowered to a maximum of 54 inches above ground level (which is approximately
48 inches above the island).
Sincerely, C P
