RE: Traffic Signal @ Sandy Lake & MacArthur
The installation of the temporary traff ic control device at the above
referenced intersection was completed and actuation of the device
took place at 7 :00 a.m. this morning. The Police Department was on
hand to assist in this effort, and for the most part the traffic flowed
smoothly.

The signal was installed according to plans and there is a protected
left turn for motorists traveling north or south on MacArthur. However,
there was some concern involving the east/west traffic on Sandy Lake
which is outlined in the attached memorandum. Basically, the design
does not accommodate a protected left turn on Sandy Lake for motorists
traveling east and west. The road is narrow and will not allow for
sufficient pavement to be laid for through traffic.
('~0taff has requested the contractor to provide a ost estimat 0 install
fr'..::!-- split phase actuation which can allow protected e turns on Sandy
Lake and should, staff believes, reduce the backing up of traffic
'~on this road.
