ST9401-CS 990318REBCON,N. March 18, 1999 Mr. Garreth Campbell City of Coppell P.O. Box 478 Coppell, Texas 75019 Re: Denton Tap Road Cottonwood Creek to S.H. 121 Bypass Dear Garreth: Rebcon previously submitted a request for change order for the referenced project for numerous items of work. This letter will clarify the item "Additional Slab Form & Wreck Costs" submitted as part of the request. The project was originally bid as two separate bridges, and for various reasons they have been combined into one bridge. The change to one combined bridge did not take place until we had already constructed the overhang for what was to be the first bridge. Some of the forming work to build the first overhang will have to be repeated to build the revised version, and our construction method will also change dramatically. We will no longer be able to work from above the bridge as originally bid, but all of our wrecking and cleaning operations will take place from below the bridge. We now have to use additional bridge hangers, we have to use spanalls in lieu of the bridge overhangs already used on the first bridge, and we have to use a special scaffold system to work from underneath the bridge and contend with Denton Creek for the wrecking and cleaning portion of the work. In addition to these equipment and material needs, the increased labor hours required for working underneath the bridge is a sizable increased cost. Following are the cost justifications for our request: 1 868 W. NORTHWEST HWY.
