Chem-Shield 800 is available in 20 standard colors and can be custom blended in over 800 architectural '^ colors to achieve desired results. Chem - shield 800 can be applied to new or old structures and can be applied to all types of construction surfaces; such as concrete - masonry, - concrete blocks, steel, wood, brick, plaster, gypsum board, galvanized metal, stucco, plywood, siding, slate, and masonite. The tough and flexible film, on the surface of a structure, is anti - fungicidal, fire retardant, mildew resistant, water resistant, has strong retention, excellent adhesion, very low water permeability, and has an expected life expectancy of over 20 years based on accelerated weathering tests. Product has been used extensively by various state highway departments to finish concrete bridge structures, bridge abutments, median strips, retaining walls, etc. to replace the costly and labor intensive rubbing and finishing of these assemblies. LIMITATIONS. Application of materials should occur between 45 °F. and 100 °F. and a relative humidity below 70 %. Never apply materials on a frozen surface. Use of a filler material is required on all porous type substrate materials. Composition and Materials: Chem - Shield 800 series is composed of a polyprene elastomer- polyester vehicle combined with the highest quality ingredients. Chem - Shield 800 comes in five textures: smooth, regular, medium, heavy or sand. Custom textures are available upon request. Chem - Shield 800 ingredients are free from any lead or asbestos products. Naphtha is recommended for cleaning or thinning of the material. PREPARATION OF CONCRETE FOR COATINGS: O Remove any existing surface applied materials using a sandblasting or ball blasting procedure. Grind any protruding materials not removed by sandblasting. © Rout any concrete cracks with a diamond blade saw to a depth of at least 1 ". Patch areas with Chem -Crete Rapid Repair Mortar CEM220 on areas 1" or over in depth or with Chem -Crete Mortar CEM240 or 210 on areas less than 1" in depth. © Peen concrete edges at any existing holes or suspected honeycombs in the concrete surface. Patch holes as in step 2 above. O Remove any damaged joint sealers or caulking assemblies. © Apply Chem - Crete CCC190 to the entire _concrete surface at a rate of 200 square feet per gallon and allow 2 hours for chemical reactions and repeat application at a rate of 300 square feet per gallon. Allow another 2 hours, then rinse with clean water. Allow clean and waterproofed concrete 48 hours to air dry. 0 Replace removed materials from step 4 above with elastomeric materials equal to Dow Corning. Allow to cure in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations, then proceed to application procedures. Textured Structural Coatings CCC800 APPLICATION PROCEDURES - CONCRETE: O Thoroughly mix the Chem - Shield 800 coatings in their container with a power mixer. © Connect Graco pump system to the container and test for spray pressures, fan spread, and viscosity. Adjust viscosity requirements with naphtha as needed but not exceeding 3 gallons per 55 gallons of coating material. © Spray Chem - Shield Coatings horizontally across the entire concrete surface utilizing a minimum of 1/2" overlaps over the previous spray pass. O Repeat step 3 above in the vertical pattern. This con- stitutes a two coat system, one application procedure with a material coverage of approximately 50 square feet per gallon at a thickness of between 20 and 24 mils. PREPARATION OF CMU - BRICK FOR COATINGS: O Remove any existing surface applied materials in an approved manner_ © Remove any damaged mortar and replace removed and missing_m_ortar joints. 0 Apply Chem - Crete CCC100 to the entire cmu or brick surface at a rate of 200 square feet per gallon and allow 2 hours for chemical reactions and repeat application at a rate of 300 square feet per gallon. Allow another two hours, then rinse with clean water. Allow 48 hours to air dry.
