Dear Gary,
I am writing to clarify the crew back charge8 for the above-mentioned project When we
started tl~ project we had two crews on site. The cn:w thai we are addressing was shut
down from laying pipe the entire month of June. The other crew laid Pil~ until June 17tu,
st which time they were moved off the project.
During the month of June we did fie-ins, laid sod, watered sod, prepared and poured some
small ooncrel~ pours, tesu~l, and did general clear~up- Many days we had a whole crew
doing somethinl that two or throe guys would h~ve normally been do~8, C~an~ this
work h~d to be done but it would not have normally taken the whole crew every day of
the week to do it.
On June 30"' we were advised that dl easements were in place and w~ could lay pipe at
The original planned diSmucnt. But not to string pipe between SI~ 8+00 and 25+00 until
further notice.
On July 1 "~ Gary ttem~cks advised Joe our superintendent) that the control points would
~ b~ ~ until T~csday July 6~. July 6~, 7tb, & 8"' we were looi~in~; bard for
to do. O- the 6~h we did a 16" tie~in~ The other days we ~ ~rsss, cleaned an ares to
get ready for a little concrete and raknd a little. Again we have a whole crew doing what
two or three guys would have been doing.
We laid pipe fk~rn July 12th through July 21mt averaging 270 LF per day. On July 16~ Joe
call Gary to see ffw~ v~re going to be able to lay through Sta. 2~+00 to 8+00. July
we got the OK_ July 21*~ Larry Davis tells Matin (our fore~nau) to stop work there
problem with the property owner at Sta. 22+ 10.

On July 22~a Joe m~t with I~srry Davis ~ Larry showed him whae to bore under the
~ ~ k~p tl~ property ownc~ happy. We called the bore crew that day and wa¢ told
they could 1~ there in one w~k if we could dig the bore pits.
July 23"a was another day of looking for something to do we cleaned up some trees and
watered grass, On this day Joe, Larry Davis and the property owner met to OK 100 LI: of
bore across the yard. On July 27m we dug the bore pits for the boring conuaetor. By July
28~ we w~r~ ,irmally laying pipe again.
Hopefully this gives you a picture of how firustratin~ this project was. This portioll oftl~
project was anticipated to be th~ b~t part of the job and then we eno0ttlltored all these
delays and problems that c~tlld not be foreseen by us at the time of bidding. These
problems affectcxl the overall profitability of the job.
