RE: Project No. B-95-0191
Coppell Ace Hardware Store
Coppell, Texas
Dear Mr. Burch:
A representative of GEE Consultants, Inc. obtained samples of the exposed material at
fire lane subgrade level along the east edge of the proposed building at the above
referenced project.
The samples were transported to the laboratory and classification tests were performed.
The test results are as follows:
Sample No. 1
Sample Location:
Sample Description:
Liquid Limit:
Plastic Limit:
Plasticity Index:
Percent Passing No. 200 Sieve:
40' east and 25' north of southeast
corner of proposed building

Sample No. 2

40' east and 130' north of southeast
corner of proposed building
Brown and light brown silty clay with
occasional gravel

A lime series test was then performed on material obtained from sample location No.2.
The results of the lime series test are as follows:
Percent Liquid Plasticity
Lime Added Limi Index
0 45 32
2 43 16
4 38 15
6 38 - 5
Based on the above listed test results, we recommend that the subgrade of the proposed
pavement be stabilized with the addition of five percent hydrated lime (approximately 23
pounds of lime per square yard, for a six inch thick stabilized layer). The lime
stabilization should be performed in accordance with the accepted plans and
specifications.
If you have any questions or if you require further information, please do not hesitate to
contact us.
Sincerely,
GEE Consultants, Inc.
