Looking at the code, NFPA 13 - Installation of Fire Sprinkler Systems, only one check valve is required
within the FDG line. The common practice is to install this check valve on the inside of the building, where
it is visible and accessible. A ball drip valve is required at the 90 at the base of the FDG. My opinion and
preference would be that we discontinue the installation of the additional check valve in the underground
portion of the FDG...the Fire Department will insure the check valve is installed inside at the FDG
connection to the sprinkler system.

Tim,
Have you guys given any more thought to the FDG out on the Swaldi property? They are still waiting to
hear back from us on the check valve situation.
If we decide we don't need that valve at all, we are in the process of revising the details, and we could
remove it.
