Re: Title Search on Property Owned By Cistercian Monks
Dear Chad:
Enclosed herewith please find a copy of our title reports
regarding the property described therein. Your question had been
to identify the owner of the property on April 15, 1957.
The date in question falls within a gap in the chain of title.
Our title research indicates that Mr. T. L. Stanley was the
owner of the real estate on April 19, 1935 and was, in all
likelihood, the owner of the property on August 30, 1946 by virtue
of his having conveyed an easement. However, it appears that Grace
Stanley Copeland was the owner of the real estate on June 17, 1960
by virtue of the granting of an easement. Although no probate
action or affidavits of heirship are on file indicating Grace
Stanley Copeland's succession in interest to T. L. Stanley, it is
likely that Ms. Copeland acquired the property through inheritance
without probate or judicial intervention.

Mr. T. L. Stanley purchased the property in question on April
19, 1935 by Deed filed in Volume 1911, Page 41. Mr. Stanley
granted an easement to Texas Power and Light Company on August 30,
1946 as T. L. Stanley, a single man having never been married.
Grace Stanley Copeland and Husband, O. E. Copeland granted an
easement to Lone Star Gas Company on June 17, 1960 on the property
in question.
There is no probate filed of record on T. L. Stanley nor an
Affidavit of Heirship that stated when he expired or who his heirs
were, therefore it would be impossible for me to determine the
owner of the property in question on April 15, 1957.
