finches), as weR as vertical surfaces and other types of arddtecb-a! ooracrete. When mixing, foci to froe incfr concrete sbrrnps are remmrranded. Higher skxrtps
should be ad-leved by using water redtiang or plast-azng admixtures, NOT by adding water. The addtian of ex0 a water to the mor wiTT affect the rxfiformity of
the color. Uneven axing and/or rapid hying of the concrete wilt also affect the ~iformity of Ute color. The use of Bomadte Cobr Cure u r~nmended.

that it will maintain a [op quality appearance. Every ]8 to 36 months, colored concrete installations should
be inspected, cleaned and resealed as rerprfred by volume and intensity of traffic. Contact your local Bomanite
contractor for the proper maintenance program in your area, as the need for maintenance will vary depending
on a number of factors indudrrrg Uaff~ conditions, geographkal bcation and weather.

SPECIFICATIONS:
1.00 GENERAL
1.04 Related Nlorir (to be completed by a licensed Bomanite
contractor except where noted)
a. Preparation work, including sulrgrade preparation, finish
grading, conswcting formwork, placing and setting
screeds, and fumrshing and placement of rei-~orcement
shall be done by a licerued Bomanite contractor a other
qualified contractor.

2.00 PRODUCTS AND MATERIALS
2.01 Concrete Mnr Design
a. The concrete shall have a minirrwm compressive
strength of 3,000 psi in norffreeze areas, 3,500 psi in
moderate heeze•thaw areas and 4,000 psi in severe
freeze-thaw areas. Pordand cement shall conform to
ASTM C 150 Type I, II, or V, depending an soil
conditions. Aggregates shall conform to ASTM C 33.
Mixing water shall be fresh, dean and potable. In
heeze-thaw areas onty an air-errUaining admixture
comph+ing to ASTM C 260 shaA be used to achieve an
entrained air content for the particular mix used in
aaordance with the published recommendations of [he
Portland Cement Association and the Amerian Concrete
Institute. No admixtures containing atrium d~loride shall
be permitted.
2.02 Cobring, InQri~ Carig and Seaig Matenals

3.01 i~stadatian Pnooedures
a. The area to receive integrally-colored concrete shall have
the sub~grade prepared as requ~ed as for any concrete
slab on grade.
6. The formwork shall be installed in accordance with the
drawings. The slab thickness shall be consistent with
that of ordinary concrete stabs under the same
conditions.
e. Provide reinforcement as specified.
d. Control~oints and/or expansion joints shall be provided
in accordance with the drawings and the guidelines
established by the American Concrete hrstitute. The
contractor shalt advisee and work with the
archrtect/errgineer to determine the best loatior+ for
these~rints to -nmimize the visibility of the joints and to
minim¢e unsghtty cracking.
e. The concrete shall be placed and weeded to the
finished grade and floated to a rmifomr surface using
standard frnishhing technittres.
f. Apply the final finish in accordance with speciflCaGons.
g. Apply a coored curing compound over the (resbly
finished concrete.
