Each section of sewer shall be tested between successive manholes.
Air shall be introduced into the pipeline unti14.0 psi gauge pressure has been reached. time the fk~
av shall be reduced and the internal air pressure shall be maintained between 3.5 and 4.5 psi
minutes to allow the sir temperature to come to equil'brium with the temperature of the pipe walls. Pipe
shall be constantly monitored by a gauge and hose arrangement separate from the hose used to introduce air into the line.
Pressure in the pipe shall not be allowed to exceed 5 psi.
After the temperature has stabilised and no air leaks at the phigs have been found, the air pressure shall be used
to determine that time lapse required for the air presswe to drop to 2.5 psi gauge.
If the time lapse required for the air pressure to decrease fmm 3.5 to 2.5 psi exceeds that shown in the following
table, the pipe shall be presumed to be within acceptable limits for leakage.
If the time lapsed is less than that shown in the table, the contractor shall make connections to reduce the leakage
to acceptable limits.
