VIII. PROTECTION OF TII~-~
No tree shall be removed without the express ~rritten permission from the
Owner or his authorized representative. All trees that are not
desi~nated removed shall be protected from damage to their t~unks and
limbs, and the Contractor shall not alloy any fill or excavation material
to ba piled at the base of any of the existing tress so that the natural
grade is raised. Any tree that is destroyed because of the
aforementioned reasons shall be replaced at the Contractor's expense.
Any tree of a specimen type that cannot be replaced in type and quality,
or because of size, vi11 be considered a value loss, and such trees will
be assigned a net valu~ of $1,000. The O~ner vii1 submit an itemized
statement for such tree loss and ~ay charge sa~e against the Contractor's
pay estimates, and withhold payment for all debased or destroyed trees
until replacement.
IX. STORAGE OF M&T~IALS
The Contractor shall at all times 'carefully and properly protect all
· aterials of every description, both before and after bein~ used in the
work, and provide any enclosing or special protection from the weather
deemed necessary by the O~ner, without additional cost. Partial payments
vii1 not relieve the Contractor of any of his responsibility in this
regard.
X. SA~PlIS AND TESTING
. The Owner will approve the tasting laboratories for the different tests
which must be acco~plished in a laboratory such as soils, concrete,
welding, att., and the Contractor viii pay for these services directly.
The Contractor shall ba responsible for seein~ that these casts are
performed and that ~he O~ner is furnished current infor~ation as to when
tests are to be mde. Tests conducted in the field, such as hydrostatic
testing, will be performed by the Contractor at his expense.
At the option of ~he O~nar, the source of supply of each of the materials
shall be approved b~ the O~nar before delivery is started and before such

S~here the work is carrisd on in or adjacent to any highway, street, allsy
or public place the Contractor shall, at his own cost and sxpsnsa,
furnish and erect barricades, £ences, lights, and danger signals, shall
provide such watchmen, and shall provide such other precautiona~y
measures for the protection of person or property and of the work as are
necessary. Barricades shall he painted in a color i:hat will be visibls
at night. From sunset to sunrise, ~he Contractor shall furnish and
· aintain aC least one light at each barricade and sufficisnt numbers of
barricades shall be srscted to keep vshiclss from bsing drivsn on or into
any work under construction. The Contractor shall furnish watchers in
sufficient numbers co protect cha work.
