Bethel Road
I talked with Jerry Bates yesterday and the subject turned to Bethel Road widening. He said he had the
numbers and I asked about the underground risers at Minyard's site. These are not the major overhead
crossings we discussed at our CC meeting. There are 2 or 3 ug services to Minyard just west of the
Bethel-Freeport intersection. Richard Walters, the TXUED engineer, had said during our on site meeting
they would eat the cost on keeping the risers underground as they moved the line to the north side of the
road, ie no overhead crossings for the primary service to Minyards. Richard told Bates this week his boss
had said the Minyards ug crossings were a cost to the city (about 30K). Jerry and I discussed the fact that
is not what I was told, and Jerry remembered that portion of the conversation also. Bates is pushing for
the city to get those at no cost. I also asked him about the Hard 8 crossing. I'll see what I can get out of
him but Hard 8 may need to pay for the ug crossing for their service.
