RE: Bethel Road & Bass Pro Drive
Ken,
Thank you for your continuing effort to help clear this project of
franchise utilities in order for our work to proceed. Unfortunately,
without the cooperation of the franchise utilities it is extremely
difficult to make progress. We will make every effort to work through
these delays and push the project forward, we have changed the direction
of our intended excavation plan and are working from Bass Pro Dr., East
toward Freeport, to allow Verizon additional time to complete their
relocations. It appears that Verizon is going to spend this additional
time not knowing if their sub is working, or not.

Lance
I spoke with Olin this morning and he said he didn't know why Klasmeyer
had not started work because they were cleared to start work last week.
He said he would call Klasmeyer and call me back today.
I had previously left messages with Rick Trevino and Olin Steel on
Wednesday April 11 th at 9:30 am but neither bothered to return my call.
I left another message with Rick this morning but I actually spoke with
Olin.
I guess if this goes on much longer without the relocation of their
facilities, we will just have to cut and remove the conflict areas and
proceed with the project. This project and timetable should not have
been a surprise to Verizon. We sent 60o~ complete plans to them on March
8, 2002 and a relocation letter to them on May 12, 2003. We followed
that up with a Utility meeting on November 13, 2003, where all utility
companies were invited. We sent 950~ complete plans to Verizon on
December 9, 2004. I guess the list could go on but the point is that
the utility companies were notified about this project over five years
ago.
I'll let you know if Olin calls back with a new and improved timetable
or if we just need to press ahead regardless of what's in our way.

John,
Has Verizon responded? Are we still delayed on the Bethel Rd. shutdown,
and excavtion from Freeport West?

Olin,
I have not seen anyone on the job site working on the relocation of your
cables and conduits. Would you check on your contractors schedule and
get back with me.
Thanks, John Gay
