To whom it may concern:
My name is Courtney Shute a Coppell resident for three years now. I
am writing to explain my distress with the road construction. First off
please let me state that I am looking forward to widening projects of Sandy
Lake and Beltline. I am very pleased that the city is widening these
streets. But my distress comes not only with the construction projects but
with the drivers who use these roads. In the past three days the
construction on Beltline at the MacAurther intersection has had many
adjustments, however, the signs that are now put up explaining to drivers
which lane is now for which direction is not getting the attention of the
drivers.
Two days ago when a lane on either side of the intertsection was taken
away I saw two "fender benders" and in the past 3 days I personally have had
a few "Close calls." The reason I am most upset about this situation is
regarding the fact that this evening on my way to the gas-station I was
almost in a head on collision due to a driver in an SUV not observing the new
temporary signs. While this was going on there was a police car in the
parking lot of the gas-station facing the intersection just watching as car
after car needed to come to a screeching halt when one did not see or observe
the temporary signs. I feel that the police officer should be directing the
traffic at the peek hours during this construction process. I understand
that this may seem to be a minor thing with the city but for all the drivers
who have to travel on these roads to and from work each day it is a great
concern to me.
I am writing this just so that the city of Coppell knows that there is
an issue concerning this construction process. I state again that I am
looking forward to the new roads and am pleased with the projects so far.
Please take this as a notice that as a resident I am concerned for the safety
and well being of the community as well as my own. This could potentially be
a hazard wating to happen.
