STRENGTH
Class 100, 150 and 200 Blue Brute water
pipes have long-term hydrostatic
strength that meet the commonly
accepted high safety requirements of
municipal water systems. Blue Brute con-
forms to cast iron O.D.'s and is available
in 4",6",8", 10" and 12" sizes in Class 100,
l5D,.and 200.

A standard laying length of Blue Brute
pve water pipe is 20 feet. That means
you can cover a lot of ground during
installation. At the same time, you elimi-
nate the cost of unnecessary joints.

Blue Brute is unaffected by electrolytic or
galvanic corrosion, or any known soil or
water condition. You don't have to
worry about tuberculation, or the need
for costly lining, wrapping, coating or
cathodic protection.

This PVC water pipe has a smooth interior
that stays smooth over long years of serv-
ice with no loss in carrying capacity. Its
coefficient of flow is C = 150 ( H&W )-the
best available in common use in water
systems. This capacity often allows sav-
ings in pumping costs as well as savings
on the size of pipe required.

You can cut Blue Brute with a power-saw
or an ordinary handsaw. It eliminates the
need to invest in costly cutting equip-

A 20 foot length of Class 150, 8" Blue
Brute water pipe weighs approximately
181 pounds. That makes it easy to load,
easy to transport and easy to handle.
Installers prefer it because it goes into the
ground quickly - thus saving on installa-
tion costs.

Blue Brute's Ring-Tite joint can be assem-
bled quickly. Seated in a deep groove.
the flexible elastomeric ring provides a
tight seal that protects the line from
shock, vibration. earth movement and
compensates for expansion and con-
traction of pipe lengths. And there's no
field mixing or application of cement. It's
a simple push-tog~ther joint that remains
tight under normal operating conditions.
Factory installed rubber sealing ring pro-
vides tight, flexible seal. Spigot pipe
ends are supplied from factory with
bevels. The bell is an integral part of the
pipe length with the same strength.

MUELLER SUPER CENTURION 250'" 3-Way Fire Hydrant Features
o ANTI-FRICTION W ASHER--
helps assure easy turning operation
for the life of the hydrant.
o HOLD-DOWN NUT--- with integral weather seal. Design discourages unauthorized removal
of the hold-down nut or bronze operating nut. Resilient wiper seal between hold-down nut and
operating nut prevents water entry to protect operating nut from freezing. Wiper seal materia! is
resistant to ultra-violet ray deterioration. D-ring seal provides second level of protection.
o REVERSIBLE, COMPRESSION-TYPE
MAIN VAL VE(Patent Pending) --
closes with pressure for positive seal.
Rubber material has long service life, yet
is reversible providing a convenient spare
in place.
o OIL FILLER PLUG---
pennits quick check of oil
level. Lets you add oil
without removing bonnet.
o ST AINLES STEEL
SAFETY STEM COUPLlNG---
pulls free if hydrant is hit by a vehicle
preventing damage to the stem and main
valve. Coupling will not break into pieces
that could drop into lower barrel and affec
valve operation. Top of lower stem is
below the top of tile lower barrel so that a
tire cannot depress the stem and open the
main valve. Repair is easy and economical.
o SAFETY FLANGE-- breaks cleanly to help
prevent barrel damage. yet is strong enough
to with.~tand normal handling. Allows
economical repair. adding of extension
section, rotation or changing of upper barrel
without digging or water shut-off.
o BRONZE UPPER VALVE PLATE---
conical design for smooth flow.
o DRAIN VALVEFACINGS---
specially designed, long-life
facings provide effective sealing.
o DUCTILE IRON CAP NUT--
retains main valve. Seats against cap
nut gasket to prevent corrosion of slem
threads. Locked in place by a stainless
steel lock washer.
o 250 PSIG-- 3-way hydrant:
250 psig (1723 kPa) maximum
working pressure, 500 psig (3447 kPa)
o SHOE DESIGNED FOR MAXIMUM FLOW
AND EASY CONNECTlON---
with its smooth transitional contours, extended neck
and integral anti-roration pads, allowing use of
standard tee-head bolts. The inside of the shoe is
covered with MUELLER HP@ Epoxy Coating. This
thermosetting epoxy forms a tough,
corrosion-resistant barrier to chemicals, physical
impact and electrical currents.
o MEETS OR EXCEEDS-
all applicable requirements of
ANSIIA WW A CS02 Standard
and UL246 and FM 1510
specifications.
o O-RING SEALS AT BONNET,
GROUND, AND SHOE FLANGES--.
for beller leak resistance, easier
maintenance.
o SEALED OIL RESERVOIR--- O-ring
sealed to prevent leakage. Provides
positive lubrication of stem threads and
bearing surfaces each time the hydrant is
operated. Filled at the factory.
o I"ULL FLOW OPENINGS--
large radius hose and pumper openings
produce low friction loss.
o FIELD REPLACEABLE HOSE AND
PUMPER NOZZLES-- D-ring sealed.
Threaded in place and retained by stainless
steel locks. Nozzles are easiiy replaced.
o ELECTRO-GAL V ANIZED BOLTS
AND NUTS--- provide corrosion protection
o NON-KINKING CHAINS---
heavy-duty chains arc securely attached to
the hydrant. Special chain loop pennits
free turning of the cap.
o BRONZE SEAT RING-- threaded into
drain ring and D-ring sealed. Seat ring is
easily removed or installed from above
ground. Each time main valve is opened or
closed. double drain valves force-flush both
drain valve openings to keep them open for
effective barrel drainage. Bronze drain valves
are integral parts of main valve assembly.

Tough technology is how we characterize the "G" Series. High impact
locking rings add protection at major shock points. Square pipe stops
provide "no compromise" positive seating. "I" beam gussets add
strength. "G" Series is engneered for the robust environment of the
construction site. Plastic Trends' patened gasket join is designed for
ease fo assembly by hand. Conventional bar and block methods
should not be required.
Productivity gains from the "G" Series are significant and should be
considered when specifying materials. All necesary configurations are
available for immediate shipment from any of our 18 stocking locations.

fittings conform to all Industry standards and are 100% quality
controlled. They are tested fro joint tightness, internal stress and
dimension stability.
Consistent lay lengths enable engineers to design systems accurately.
Installers will also appreciate the consisten and compact design. With
18 stocking locations throughout North America, these new one piece

Polyeth'ylene Encasement for
Ductile Iron Pipe
Polyethylene Encasement for Ouctile iron pipe is used as a protective barrier between
duct.ile iron pipe and fittings and corrosive soil. Corrosion, specifically galvanic corrosion,
occurs when an electrolytic reaction occurs between soil and pipe. This reactiOn is caused
when dissimilar metals in an electrolyte are coupled causing an elecfrical transfer of
particles from one metal to another. To prevent corrosion, a protective barrier must exist.
