Sika@ AER
Air Entraining Admixture
Description
Siki:l AER admixture is a conc:entrated liquid sollltion of neutralized
vinsol resin.
Slk;:J AER meels the requirements of ASTM C-260 for Air r-ntr~ining
Admb(tLlre~.
Applications
... ,,_,_'w'", .... . .--.-..-..
Sika AER Cl::\rl lJt~ u!;ed whenever ;:Jir t'lnlmined conct'ete is desired. Ready-
mix, precast and block producers can achieve optimum entrained air contents,
even whcr~ hamh mixe:s are used or fly-a~h i~ Fldded lo the mix.
Sika AER is an crrec:live and economical means 10 improve ttle paste Quality
of !('!(In r:onc:rele mixes.
Advantages Durability: Air tlntrail)ment is recoQnized 215 the mosl effective prevention
<If.lainst concrete sctiling in exposed environments. Air entr'dined t:oncrete
delivel'l:; particular benefits in the form of increased concrete durabUity. This
is imporlrlnl in colder dirnates where frost and frr.nzn-lhnw cycles can cause
scaling and damage to the r:oncrelE:l surface.
Air entr~inil1\J ayents t1elp to prevent SCCllillrl hv creatine rnillillrllo; of microscopic
;.iir voids lhal water trapped in the concrete can exp~nd into when the concrete
freezes, thus preventing cracks caused by the nAlLJral expansion. t::ntralned air
voids in the concrele will all;o increase durability in harsh environments where
concrete is exposed to deicing !'.<'llts, lTIarine salts and sulfates.
Workability and Placeability: WorkAbilily and placeability arE) also improved
by the lubricating action of tIle microscopic bubblo'S in the cum:rfttfl. The
concrete flows better, bleeding <lnd shrillkaye is reduced because lower wRter
<;(mtent is needed for desired workability.
It hm'; b~cn forrnuluttltl L:lt1d rTl~nufactured spec.ifically too provide: sllJule UIIU
predictable air contents in concrete, with uniform flir bubble spacing through-
out the concrete matrix.
How to Use
Dosage
Dosaf.le rtltes tor Sika AER will typically full bolween 0.5 and 1.5 fl. oz./1DO
Ibs. (3? - 97 rnl/100 kg) of cArnentitiolJ5 to entrain between 4 and 0 percent air.
Higher air mntents may be obtained by increasing the dosage rale.
Dosage ml.es will v;~ry depending un the air content required tor a partiClllrlr
pruject. Typically air contents will be specified in the rtlnge of 4 10 8 per(;etlt by
volume.

High Range Water Reducing Admixture
Description
Applications
Advantages
Sika Visr-oCrete 2100 is a high rango water reducer utili7ing Sika's
VlscoCrctc' polycarboxylate polymer technology.
Sika ViscoCmt:- 2100 meets the requirements for ASTM C-494 Type!> A and F,
Sik~ ViscoCrele 2100 may he used in both ready mix and precasl applica-
tions, as a plant added high range water reducer lO provide exccllent plasticity
while maintaining slump for up lo 90 minutas. Controlled set times make Sika
ViscoCmtc 2100 ideal for horizontal and vertical applications.
Sika ViscoCrete 2100 is ideal for producliun or selT COnSOll(latlng concrete
(SCC).
Water Reduction: Sika ViscoCrete :7100 ('.an be dosed in small amounts to
obtain water reduction from 10-15%. and will achieve waler reduction up to
45% at high dosage ratos.
$ika Vi~.oerele 2100 is suitable for alllElvnls of waler reduction.
High Plasticity: The superplasticiLing action of Sika ViscoCrele 2100 provides
high-slump, flowing concrete that maintains exccllent workability and may be
placed with minimal vibration even at very low W8ler cement ratio's 05 low as
0.7.5.
Sika ViscoCrete 2100 plasticized concrete is highly fluid while m.~intainiI19
complete C'..ohc.'.ion within the concrete matrix to eliminate excessive bleeding or
:-segregation.
Extended Slump Life and Set Control: Sika Visco Crete 2100 has been
formulated to provide controlled and prediclable extended slump life for periods
oT 60 to 00 minutes with normal set limes.
TIle c:ombined high range water reduction and $UperpI8$ticizing action of Sika
ViscoCrete 2100 provide the following benefits in ha.rdened concrete:
. Highor ultimate strengths allow for greater engineering design nexibility
and slruclural economies.
. Reduced waler cement ratios produce morn durable. dense concrete with
reduced perme!lbilily.
. Highly effective plasticizer reduces surface defects in concrete elements
and improves aesthetic appQ<ilrance.
It has been formulated to provide maximum water reduction and extended
slump reLention at low dosages.
Sika ViscoCMte 2100 does not contain formaldehyde, calcium chloride or any
other intentiunally i::Idded chlorides and will not initiate or promote the corrosion
of sleel presenl in [he concrete.
How to Use
Dosage Dosage rates will vary according lo materials used, a.mbient
conditions and the requirements of a specific project. Sika recommends
dosage al 2-6 n. OL.. per 100 Ibs. (130-390 mJ/IOO kg) of cementitiuus for
cunventiunal com;rele applications. If high slump or Self Consuhdaung con-
crete (see) is required, dosage from 6-12 n.oz./100 100, (300-780 m1l100 kg.)
of cementitiOlJS may be used.
Dos."1gc rates outside tile recommended range may be U$E!n where speciali:L.ed
materials such as microsilica are specified, oxtmmc ambient conditions are
enl.'Ounlered or unusual project conditions require special considerRtion.

For best SUpArplasticiLing results, add Sika ViscoCrete 2100 direcUy to freshly
mixed concrete in the concrete mixer at the end of the batching cycle,
Slka ViscoCrete 7100 may also be dispen:o;c:d i:llS lln integral mfJtcril1l during
the regular admixture batching cycle, or into freshly mixed concrete in a
Ready-Mix Lruck at the concrete planl or at the job site.
To optimize tho superplaSlJdZlng effect, after me addltlon Slka ViscoCrero
2100 Sika recommends that the combined materials be mixed fur 8Q..100
revolutions, either in the <;oncrele mixer or in the Ready-Mix tnJck.
Combination with other admixtures: Sika VISCOCrete 2100 is hiqhly
effective as single admixture or in combination with other admixtures in the
Sika System. If used in combination with certain Sikamont high range watcr
reOucers It m.'y affec:l the plastic propnrtir,& or fresh conc~tc. Please contact
a Sika representative for further information.
Combination with microsilica: Sika ViscoCrctc 2100 is particularly well
suiled ror use wltn micros/ilea beCCluse or ItS water reduction capClbility cllld
superior slulTll? control. .._
Sika ViscoCrcfc 2100 is available in 55 gallon drum (208 liter), 215 gallon totes
(1040 liters) drums and bulk delivery.
-~". -
Sika ViscoCrete 2100 should be stored at above 35"F (2uG), If frozen, \haw and
agitate thoroughly 10 retum to normal state.
Shelf life when stored in dry warehouse conditions between 50nF and 80uF
(10.C - 2loC) is one year minimum.
