Dear Mr. Rose:
We have been asked to provide altemstive paving recommendations for the
referenced project. This letter presents our recommendations. This letter
should be considered an addendum to our referenced Geo1echnlcal
Engineering Report dated April 7, 2006, and should not be considered
separately fmm that report.
As an alternative to 1fme-1reatment of pavement subgrade, the pavement
sections can be increased by 1 inch of Porttand cement concrete and the lime
treatment can be deleted from the subgrade preparatlon. For this altemative,
the pavement subgrade should be pmofrolled (as described below), and the
upper six inches of the final subgrade should be compacled to at least 95
percent of the material's maximum standard ProctDr drydens1ty (ASTM 0-698)
at a moisture content between optimum and 4 percentage points above Its
optimum moisture content.
Generally, the comments and recommendations contained in the referenced
geotechnical report remain unchanged.
