TOPIC DISCU~ED
Box Culvert Design
DECISIONS REACHED
Powell & Powell's preliminary box culvert design is to be modified to construct the box as deep as
possible at Sandy Lake to lessen the conflict with an existing 10" sanitary sewer. The sanitary
sewer main can, if required, be placed in a carrier pipe and constructed inside the upper one-third
of the box.
TOPIC DISCUSSED
Box Culvert Design and Construction Schedule
DECISIONS REACHED
Ginn, Inc. requested that the Drainage Agreement be modified to stipulate events and/or a date at
which time the box culvert is to be constructed. Events which would trigger the construction of
the box culvert include the constructon of a building on Lot 3 or improvements to Sandy Lake
Road.
In addition, a schedule for completion of the box culvert design should be submitted. The design is
required in the near future to allow the design of improvements south of Sandy Lake to proceed.
TOPIC DISCUSSED
On-Site Drainage
Tracking No. 3354/0507
DI~CISIONS REACHED
The City will allow sheet flow, but will require that the quantity be limited to 30 CFS+_ or when
the depth of flow exceeds 0.5'.
The quantity of runoff for overland flow may be based on a storm frequency less than 100-years.
The design storm frequency should be selected by Powell & Powell (25-year frequency was
discussed).
The storm sewer should then be designed to collect the 100-year runoff with overflow to inlets at
the box culvert.
The on-site storm sewer system should be designed as soon as possible, but does not have to be
constructed until the box culvert is constructed. The sheet flow will be allowed on an interim
basis.
TOPIC DISCUSSED
Final Plat Approval
DECISIONS REACHED
If a schedule for the design and construction of the box culvert and on-site drainage system can be
agreed to, the City staff will recommend approval of the Final Plat.
