Give, Oprah gave the local ABC"
television affiliate $10,000 to give
to a charitable organization. Being
the organization chosen, NTFB
put the money toward its Food 4
Kids program, which provides
backpacks of food for children
who might not otherwise have
weekend food.
The district's goal is to collect
10,000 18-0uncejars of peanut but-
ter for the Big Give. These peanut
butter jars will be added to the
Food 4 Kids backpacks. Every
Coppell school campus in the dis-
trict has a collection box provided
by NTFB, and students are asked
to bring their donations for the
official drop-off Friday.

before the big day. Gilstrap said
local grocery stores currently have
good deals on 18-0unce jars of
peanut butter - 10 for $10.

within 365 days, And, if the road is
open by Dec. 31, the company will
receive a $200,000 bonus. If the
construction continues past June
8, 2009, TIseo Paving Company
will pay $1,000 a day.
Because of the fire depart-
ment's emergency services routes,
engineering staff decided the road
should flow northbound while one
lane, despite the 5,500 vehicles
traveling the road a day being split
evenly by direction, said Keith
Marvin, project engineer.

Although 1,600 letters were
sent out, only about 40 people
went to the town hall meeting
Thesday night at WIlson
Elementary to hear more about
the Coppell Road project
Many people expressed their
concerns about tree mitigation,
needing increased signage, lower-
ing the road and crosswalks but
most said they were glad it' was
going to be <;:ompleted, even if
they have to deal \vith the incon-
venience,
Coppell Road will become a
one-way northbowld lane on or

Despite the benefit the road
expansion will have in the long-
run, the inconvenience will affect
many people, especially because
the work will be directly in front of
Wllson Elementary. And, the
school will be the host of summer
school during the same time con-
struction starts. .
But, because of bond projects
at other school and the large runn-
ber of ESL students at Wilson,
summer school cannot be at any
of the other schools, said Tameiah
Ringo, director of public relations
for Coppell ISD.
