Re: Oak Trail Drainage Improvements
Dear Ms. Daneshmand:
We are pleased to submit this proposal to provide engineering
services to the City of Coppell for the referenced project.
1. study two options for resolving the conflict between the
existing S-inch sanitary sewer and the proposed storm
sewer.
OPTION I - Route sanitary sewer through proposed
storm sewer.
OPTION II - Relocate the gas line in the north parkway
of Willow Way Lane and re-route the
proposed storm sewer.
2. Revise the construction plans to resolve the conflict
described in Item 1 above.
3. Prepare a drainage easement for the portion of the storm
sewer that would be on private property.

Construction Administration
1. Consult and advise with the Owner; issue all
instructions to the Contractor requested by the Owner;
and prepare and issue routine change orders with Owner's
approval.
2. Review samples, catalog data, schedules, shop drawings,
laboratory, shop and mill tests of material and
equipment and other data which the Contractor submits.
This review is for the benefit of the Owner and covers
only general conformance with the information given by
the Contract Documents. The Contractor is to review and
stamp his approval on submittals prior to submitting to
Engineer, and review by the Engineer does not relieve
the Contractor of any responsibility such as dimensions
to be confirmed and correlated at the job site,
appropriate safety measures to protect workers and the
public, or the necessity to construct a complete and
workable facility in accordance with the Contract
Documents.
Obtain and review monthly and final estimates for
payments to Contractors, and furnish to the Owner
recommendations of payments to Contractors and
suppliers; assemble written guarantees which are
required by the Contract Documents.
Conduct, in company with the Owner, a final inspection
of the Project for compliance with the Contract
Documents, and submit recommendations concerning project
status, as it may affect Owner's final payment to the
Contractors.
ADDITIONAL SERVICES
1. Field surveys to check geometric layout, grade, etc.
2. Resolution of disputes between Owner and Contractor in
excess of 10 man-hours.
3. Continuation of on-site services for more than one week
beyond the construction contract completion date.
4. Any services not specifically stated in basic services.
In performing these services, the Engineer will endeavor to
protect the Owner against defects and deficiencies in the work
of the Contractor, but he cannot guarantee the performance of
the Contractor, nor be responsible for the actual supervision

of construction operations or for the safety measures that the
Contractor takes or should take. We assume that coordination
with homeowners and City services will be performed by the
Owner.
For the services of our staff, the charge will be the "Salary
Cost" of each employee so engaged times a multiplier of 2.25
except for Principals, whose time will be billed at $125.00
per hour. "Salary cost" is defined as the cost of salaries
(total hours worked times the time directly chargeable to the
Project, plus thirty percent (30%) for Social Security
contributions, unemployment, excise and payroll taxes,
employment compensation insurance, retirement benefits,
incentive pay, medical and insurance benefits, sick leave,
vacation, and holiday pay applicable thereto). The overtime
premium (required by the Fair Labor Standards Act for non-
exempt classifications) will be billed for overtime hours
worked because of client's requirements. For all telephone
toll charges, reproductions, etc., and travel and subsistence
for our officers and staff, all as required for the proper
execution of the work, and for all work subcontracted, the
charge is the actual invoice cost plus ten percent (10%)
service charge. We estimate that the charge for BASIC
SERVICES will be approximately $7,100 (itemized below).

Payment to DeShazo, Starek & Tang, Inc., for authorized
services will be due upon presentation of our monthly
statements for such services.
LIMITATIONS ON LIABILITY
Limitations on liability help to keep our fee structure as low
as possible. The City of Coppell agrees to limit the
liability of DeShazo, Starek & Tang, Inc., to the client and
to any and all contractors and subcontractors on the project,
due to negligent acts, errors or omissions by DeShazo,
Starek & Tang, Inc., such that the total aggregate liability
of the firm to all those named shall not exceed $50,000, or
the total fee for services rendered on this project, whichever
is greater.
If this proposal meets with your approval, it will serve as
an agreement if you will execute both copies and return one
to us. If the scope needs to be adjusted, or if you have any
questions, we would be happy to meet with you at your
convenience.
