To ensure that the correct mix is delivered to your project, please order by the mix design number which appears in the left hand comer of the mix design. TXI certifies that the above mix designs, when ordered by specified design identity, and delivered by TXI, will meet or exceed the indicated design strength at the designated age when tested in accordance with the applicable and current ASTM Standards C 31, C 39, C 78, C 172, C 293, applicable provisions of C 94, and evaluated in accordance with applicable provisions of the ACI building code. TXI would like to be included on your mailing list to receive all test reports. ASTM C 94 entitles a manufacturer to receive copies of all test reports when strength of concrete is used as a basis for acceptance. Contact us if you have any questions or require any additional information. Please notify TXI of approval of the proposed mix design prior to its use. Failure to notify us prior to first placement shall constitute acceptance. To ensure that the proper mix design is ordered, please send a copy of this letter, after approval, to the above referenced project to be used by the person ordering the concrete for this job. Villarreal Manager - Q.A./Q.C. 1992 - 2008 Digital Site SystclIl5. Inc. Page2 Quadrel iService SM GENERAL NOTES Pumping Notes: 1. 5" minimum diameter lines with no reduction to smaller lines. 2. Keep rubber hose to absolute minimum length and plan pipe with as few 90 degree angles as possible. 3. Samples for slump and strength tests should be taken at discharge end of hose for strength guarantee to be valid. 4. To prime pump lines, a minimum of 8.0 sack grout is recommended for lubrication. In the case of strength concrete, equivalent strength grout should be used if the grout remains in the placement. 5. Pump mixes are based on minimum cement content pumped at ground level. As pump line increases in length or height and/or layout configuration changes, mix design modifications may be required to assure strength and pumpability at additional cost to the contractor. 6. TXI cannot control, and is therefore not responsible for excessive loss of entrained air content when loss occurs as a result of boom configuration or free fall discharge from hose. To ensure minimum air loss when pumping, maintain a continuous flow of concrete through the entire length of pipe and do not subject concrete to free fall. 7. The term "pumpable concrete" refers to concrete which is capable of being transported through an apparatus which forces concrete to the placing position through a pipeline or hose as long as the recommendations indicated above are followed. The term "pumpable concrete" does not relate to concrete proportioned in a particular manner or containing a specific type of product. Strength of lightweight mix designs valid provided strength specimens are air cured in accordance with ASTM Test Method C 567-05, section 7.3 except as modified in section 8.1, alternative method, ASTM Specification C 330-04. Unless otherwise indicated, when the concrete temperature at point of placement exceeds 90 degrees Fahrenheit, TXI will guarantee the strength performance of the mix design(s) herein submitted up to a maximum placement temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit using an ASTM C 494 Type D retarding water-reducer, as long as the concrete is placed within 75 minutes from batch time. Unless otherwise indicated, strength of plain concrete guaranteed up to a maximum placement temperature of 85 degrees Fahrenheit. We are enclosing all available back up data for the referenced mix design(s). If the strength information is not available, or is insufficient, confirmation tests may have to be conducted by your laboratory . 1992 - 2008 Digital Site Systems. IDC. COMMENTS: * HIGH-EARLY STRENGTH NOTES: I) Obtain ALL strength specimens at the point of placement. 2) Test specimens used for in-place early strength determination should be cured in a manner as close as possible to the in-place concrete. Utilization of insulated blankets or an insulated curing box is highly recommended. Hydration of portland cement is a temperture sensitive chemical reaction. In-place concrete generally develops and maintains substantially more heat than 6"xI2" test cylinders. The difference in magnitude between in-place strength and the measured strength of 6"xI2" cylinders increase as ambient temperatures decrease. Standard test cylinders used for 7 and 28 day evaluation should still be cured in strict accordance with ASTM C 31. 1992 - 2008 Digital Site Systems, Ioe. With the hot weather upon us with a vengeance, it is most important for all of us to re-acquaint ourselves with the necessities for a successful bondbreaker application, Fi(st and foremost - be ramiHar with our Technical Data Sheet! 'We state, "EVEN THOUGH THIS COAT IS APPLIED AS A CURE, THIS IS THE FIRST AND MOST 1~..lPROT ANT BONDBREAKER COAT. IT IS ABSOL.UTEL Y NECESSARY FOR SURE.L1FT TO REMAIN AT THE SURFACE OF THE SLAB." Any aggravating factors in the placement of concrete are also aggravating factors to tilt- up construction and the successful application of a bondbreaker (high temperature, low humidity, ''vind). These facters. coupled with an open concrete finish, excessive fly ash and time elapse after finish.ing prior to applying a cure coat, create problems with the perf()rmance of a bondbreaker. We want - rather NEED - to have the bondbreaker remain on top of the surface rather than absorbed into the concrete. If the contractor waits too long after finishing to apply the curing coat (or in hot weather), first mist or fog the slab with water. remove the excess \illater with a squeegee or by blowing with compressed air, then immediately spray a coat of bondbreaker as the ellre coat. & BOND BREAKERS There are three quick checks that you should do that will assure you of the parting qualities of the treated slab: a) Sprinkle water on a dry area of the treated slab, The water should bead up and roll around like it would on a newly waxed car b) The treated slab should feel like a waxed typed finish to the touch. c) A small amount of the bondbreaker should roll up under thumb pressure, Most important... .prior to pouring cencret.e in hot weather, 'Net dC'v';n the casting siab and rebar with plenty of low pressure, clean water. This '.vill cool down the rebar and the concrete. The surface temperature of the concrete can reacii 160 degrees F during hot "'.Jeather. The cement may then flash set around the rebar and transfer the rebar patterns. Do not let the water sit on the cast1ng slab more than 15 minutes prior to pouring concrete. Final note: agitate the drums of the J-5 using the built-in agftator before each application of the bondbreaker. Reiling the j-5 drums is not sufficient agitation. __....'......".,~...._. ~ .,_,.., ,"'" .'_,'_<>~_" ,--, _.~,"'" 'k www. daytonsuperiorchemicaLcom rJj ror.:1 U ,.....
