SS9301-AG 930223 .. " AGENDA REQUEST FORM CITY COUNCIL MEETING February 23. 1993 ITEM NUMBER The City With A Beautiful Fut..-e ITEM CAPTION: Consid~ration of awarding Bid No. Q-0193-05 for soil testing services associated with the Grapevme Creek Sewer Trunk Main project Branches I and II to Maxim Engineers in the amount of $10,953.75. SUBMITT'ED BY: STAPP RVALUATION OP ITRY: DATR: February 12,. 199~ On February 2, 1993, three bids were received and opened for testing services related to the Grapevine Creek Sewer Trunk Main project. As Council may recall, the bid for 1be construction associated with the Grapevine Cteek Sewer Main was awarded to Kenco, Inc. on December 8, 1992. Because the testing servi~ associated with this project will exceed $5,000, the City was required to bid the services. The cost of the testing is not an additional cost to the project. This was an item that has been brought forth each time the Grapevine Creek Sewer Trunk Main has been discussed with Council.. The actual original estimate for the testing cost was in the range of $40,000. On a project of this magnitude, it is virtually impossible to determine the actual quantity and type of testing. The City tried to determine as accurately as possible the quantity of the main types of testing that will be required on this project. It is very conceivable that when the final testing bill for this project has been paid, that it will still be somewhere in the range of $15,000 to $20,000. Staff recommends that Bid No. Q-0193-05 for testing services be awarded to Maxim Engineering in ~e amount of $10,953.75.
