Dear \ls Smith:
This letter is \vritten as a follow-up to my previous letter concerning the intersection of Kaye Street
\\'lth Coppell Rd. Included with this letter is an exhibit from our design consultant showing how
the 33" Oak tree and 15" Elm tree could both be avoided during the construction of Coppell Road.
The consultant used the same technique that I had previously proposed in my letter to you, i.e.,
shifting Kaye Street to the north to center it hetween the 33" Oak and the 15" Elm trees. The
consultant also reduced the curb return radius coming off of Coppell Road, to a 20" radius, as
opposed to the previous 25" radius. By the consultant's calculations, these modifications would
place the street approximately 10 feet from hoth trees.
Ho\\c\ eL this modification would require approximately 310 square feet ofright-of-way dedication
hy you to the City off of 420 S. Coppell Road.
If this rcali~'1ll11ent to save the trees is acceptahle to you, please let me know at your earliest
cOlwcnicnce, so that I can authOlize the design consultant to prepare the necessary right-of-way
documents. Once those documents have heen provided to the City, we can arrange a mutually
agreeable time to meet to notarize the documents for the acquisition of the right-of-way.

We have taken a first look at the CORpell Road / Kavc Street intersection and attached is a sketch
of what we have come up with. \\'e reduced the radii at the intersection to 20ft. and use a
minimum radius of 150 ft on the centerline. This would put the proposed curb line about 10 ft.
from the tree~ on each side of the street. This option would require acquiring approximately 310
