ST9401-CS 950324 M E M 0 RAN DUM TO: Tom Baker S1'C14-0\ FROM: Ulys Lane DATE: 3-24-95 SUBJECT: DENTON TAP ROAD; COPPELL, TEXAS W&A NO.: 94093 I reviewed your proposal to Ken Griffin and wish to confirm that we will need some slope stability analysis. We will be constructing a paved 16' wide hike and bike trail between the outside bridge piers and the bridge abutment. This will occur on both sides of the bridge. There will be a concrete rip-rapped slope from the edge of the hike and bike trail to the bridge abutment. The slope will be about 8' high. The section we provided to you of the bridge indicates the hike and bike trail concept. We will need to determine the riprap slope for design of the bridge opening width. We will use a 2:1 slope if it is stable and flatter slopes if needed. Also, we will riprap around the end of the bridges up to the normal earthen fill slope at the bridge abutment. We will need to know the maximum safe slope for the bridge embankment. We anticipate a maximum 3:1 slope will be considered. We may use a maximum 4:1 slope if there is room so the slope can be easily mowed. Based on existing creek overbank grades near the bridge area at elevation 460 and the anticipated top of bridge elevation of 469, we anticipate the earthen slopes to be 10' high or lower. ! The slope analysis is an additional service in your report. We would ask that you give Ken Griffin an idea of the costs to provide the information described above.
