Concrete Placement
Dear Mr. Buell:
During the inspection of the concrete paving placement I noticed that the appropriate measures to place
concrete were not sufficient to meet the City of Coppell standards. The chairs were not used to raise the
rebar throughout the process of the pour. I observed steel being left on the ground during the pour. The
redwood expansion joints were not placed in the proper place and are not full depth as the construction
standard details show and in some locations they are not redwoods. Due to the lack of manpower the
concrete was setting up too fast so more water was added and as a result, the finished product is chalky
and pitted. There are cracks and spots that pond water. I recommend removing the concrete as it is
unacceptable to the City of Coppell.
A copy of the construction standard details is required to be on the jobsite at all times. Your
superintendant, Charles, has yet to obtain a copy of these standard details. This letter along with pictures
taken of the concrete will be placed in our file as public information for potential buyers.
